Early Learning Program

The foundation of your childs success

My philosophy on childcare is that every child should be made to feel confident, safe, and loved while enjoying themselves in daycare. I recognize that children grow and learn at their own individual pace and that each child needs to be encouraged and praised individually. Children who are given the opportunity and materials to experiment and test their abilities are able to grow and gain self-confidence. Much of a child’s learning is done through play; my goal is to foster that learning through various group activities, individual play, and quiet periods. Blending the best of Montessori-style learning with modern educational practices, I empower children to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Creative Expressions Childcare functions like an early learning preschool with all the benefits of a small intimate and personal setting.

Monthly themes

Each month consists of its own learning (consisting of letters, numbers, colours and shapes) in addition to themes so that your child has something new to anticipate with each coming month.

Prioritizing Development

I  focus, in detail, on the children's learning and developing phonemic and phonological awareness skills through  gross  motor, fine  motor  and tactile activities (all while having fun).  I also prioritize visual, auditory, and hands-on experiences to reinforce literacy development.

Hands-on activities

Our daily activities are designed to keep your child engaged, whether they’re learning how to identify a rectangle or memorizing a song about the continents. I often introduce new games, cooking activities, action finger plays, worksheets, picture wheels, mini books and art activities.

Until your child reaches the age of 30 months, most of our learning is fostered through play. Once your child is close to 30 months and shows readiness signs, I begin adding in more programming to prepare them for JK and SK. Learning is still  maintained through play as well. Each child  will have 1-on-1 learning opportunities while others will have free play.

Here is some of what will be doing:

  • Jolly Phonics - Jolly Phonics provides a thorough foundation for reading and writing. It teaches 42 letter sounds and is a multi-sensory systematic phonics program that uses `actions' and all the senses so that children enjoy learning.

  • Journals - Journals are a fantastic way to take a peek into your child's world. They will love to look back on last year's events and laugh over what happened and the things they thought were important.

  • Special Helper - Each child will take turns being my special helper for the day. This encourages helping, taking turns and  building confidence  (days are rotated) .

  • Show and Tell - There are many benefits to Show and Tell including the development of communication skills and confidence.

Additional Information:

There is a  large TV-free, child-safe environment inside with huge windows (for lots of sunshine) with its own entrance. It is  equipped  with a children's play  structure, outdoor toys, a garden  and plenty of space (a 2-acre lot, includes a fenced-in play area) for  your children to run, play and let their imagination grow. Your child's  days will be  filled with activities from outdoor play (weather permitting)  to arts & crafts, music time, storytime, learning and more. I work hard every day to make sure  your  children are having fun, as well as doing a  structured learning program throughout the day.

As a family we try to eat as many whole foods, plant-based foods, and non-processed foods  as much as possible, this is the same philosophy I go by when feeding the children in my care.

You can feel confident that your child will feel loved and cared for while you are away.
